Fernandez
I'm Sunny Fernandez, a social worker and counsellor with a passion for helping people become the most authentic version of themselves. My approach is grounded in the belief that you already have strengths to build on — therapy is about uncovering and growing them, not just fixing what feels broken.
I offer a warm, collaborative space where you set the pace. Whether you're navigating stress, anxiety, low mood, a big life change, or simply feel stuck, my goal is to help you move forward with more clarity, confidence, and self-trust.
I hold a Master of Social Work and am a full member of the Australian Association of Social Workers (AASW). Over the past seven years, I've worked across a range of settings — supporting youth, adolescents, and young adults; providing crisis support through a mental health and safety phone line; and working with adults, parents, and families in therapeutic casework. This range of experience means I bring a flexible, practical approach tailored to whoever is in front of me — whether that's a teenager navigating school stress or a parent adjusting to a major life change.
My work draws on a range of evidence-based approaches, including Cognitive Behaviour Therapy (CBT), Motivational Interviewing, Strength-Based Therapy, Schema Therapy, Internal Family Systems (IFS), and trauma-informed, person-centred care. I tailor the mix to you — there's no one-size-fits-all approach here.
I know reaching out can feel like a big step. My hope is that from the very first conversation, you feel heard, respected, and genuinely supported.
